Shame on the GOP
One of our members wrote this post late Tuesday night, but the group decided to set it aside for a while because it was so edgy. We thought we’d tone it down a bit after a few days had passed. But instead of mellowing out, we are all now in accord that what was originally written should stand. So, here it is:
Shame on the GOP in New York. Shame!
You have no message, no organization and no leadership.
You are an embarrassment as a state party.
You could have won big tonight if you only mustered the most rudimentary coordinated campaign and GOTV operation.
You could have won the comptroller’s race, and it could have been the basis of a real resurgence of the party in New York based on the fiscal acumen and integrity that Wilson stood for. Wilson was infinitely more qualified than DiNapoli, and everyone knows it.
You could have won the AG’s race and prevented a situation in which unions now control the state’s top law enforcement office.
You could have swept to victory in the State Senate like the Republicans did in the House of Representatives. There’s never been a more incompetent and ethically-challenged bunch running a legislative house than the Senate Dems, and everyone knows that, too.
You could have given Andrew Cuomo a real challenge in the gubernatorial race. You might have even won if you had a credible candidate. Instead, you didn’t even try to win; you handed the office to Cuomo.
Think of how low your once-proud party has sunk: Your state chair actually recruited a Democrat to run for governor. And your patriarch, Al D’Amato, is working openly for Cuomo and Gillibrand. They should be kicked out of the party.
Isn’t there anyone in your party who will step forward to start the rebuilding process? Doesn’t anyone even care?
